Worst thing I ever read.
Free abortions - 6 evacuees go to Little Rock clinic
LITTLE ROCK -- A Little Rock abortion clinic says it has provided six free abortions to Hurricane Katrina refugees and will continue to provide the procedures free of charge for those displaced by the storm, despite protests from a group that opposes abortion.
Little Rock Family Planning clinic director Dr. Jerry Edwards said he is helping pregnant refugees by offering free abortions because later-term abortions are more dangerous. Edwards's clinic is the only abortion clinic in central Arkansas.
Rose Mimms, executive director of Arkansas Right to Life, called Edwards's offer "insensitive" and said he is risking further traumatizing women who have already lost their possessions in the storm.

This has to be the most horrendous thing I have ever seen in U.S. local news. Wherever you come down on the abortion debate, and I certainly am against it, isn't it clear that people displaced by one of the hurricanes are probably not in a stable mental state? Not to mention the fact that the reason these pregnancies are being aborted is because childbirth is inconvenient at the moment!
Assume, as the report appears to indicate, that all of these abortions are late-term abortions. That means that all of these fetuses were viable. Suppose the stress of the hurricane evacuation had caused these women to go into labor prematurely - these children would probably be alive today, though they were born before they were due andultimately before they were, in fact, aborted. Should we, then, allow the mothers of any children born prematurely during the hurricane evacuation process to either kill or abandon those children? I submit that this is only a tiny fraction of a step away from what is occuring in Little Rock.
